Projectivy Launcher Calibration Patterns: Tune Your TV Picture With Built In Tests

Use Projectivy Launcher calibration patterns, including 4K and judder tests, to tune your TV picture after you change picture settings.

A film scene hides picture flaws in motion and story. A test pattern holds still and shows them. Start from Projectivy Launcher home and tune the display with patterns instead of guessing.

What calibration patterns do

Calibration patterns are test images that show picture problems more honestly than any film scene. A film hides flaws in motion and story. A pattern holds still and shows them: banding in a gradient, judder in a moving bar, softness in fine detail. Projectivy Launcher includes these patterns so you can tune the display instead of guessing at it.

The 4K pattern

Run the 4K pattern after any change to sharpness or resolution settings. It shows fine lines and small text that reveal whether the TV is truly resolving detail or just sharpening edges. If small text shimmers, sharpness is too high. Turn it down until the pattern looks calm, then check a real show to confirm the change helped. See also the wallpaper guide for the step by step version.

The judder pattern

Judder is uneven motion: a camera pan that stutters instead of gliding. The judder pattern makes it visible on purpose, so you can tell whether a motion setting helped or made things worse. Change one motion setting at a time and rerun the pattern, because changing three settings at once teaches you nothing about which one mattered. Pair this with the older TV performance guide when you rebuild the rows. Get it from the Projectivy Launcher download page if you have not installed it yet.

Run patterns after changes

Run a pattern after changing TV picture settings, not before, so you judge the final picture. Note the setting that worked, because a later reset or a new device can wipe it. Patterns are a tool for the whole room too: a wallpaper that looked fine before calibration may need its brightness lowered once the picture is honest.

Quick Answers

Do I need calibration patterns for a new TV?

Not on day one, but they help whenever motion looks uneven or detail looks soft. They show problems a film scene hides.

Should I change many picture settings at once?

No. Change one setting, rerun the pattern, and judge. Changing several at once hides which change helped.
